Long story short, new computer.
I download and install AC (of course), then try to run it and get greeted by this
error while loading shared libraries: libcurl.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Any ideas?

ahh now then that is an easy fix open your terminal. So why mess around lets resinstall all of the opengl packages.
type in su ( we want to work as root so now enter your system password)
copy paste this line if your using debian
sudo apt-get install libsdl1.2debian libsdl-image1.2 zlib1g libogg0 libvorbis0a libopenal1 libcurl3
copy and paste this line if your using a redhat distro
sudo yum install SDL SDL_image zlib libogg libvorbis openal-soft libcurl
libcurl is a very much underestimated bit of kit.. Basically without it you will not get onto the masterserver. I know this because I spent a week messing around with a router and firewalls when libcurl was the issue.
let me know how you get on as you may have to do some other work on it. In mine I resinsalled AC and put a direct link to it.
What distro are you using btw.
madcatz, badger and -Subjective like this.
I managed to get it running with linux mint and also bodhi, puppy was hard work though
tell me why are you using ubunti its soooo slow
and a pain front end
if you want a simple to use distro out of the box try Mint .
I know mint has a few problems with openal etc as I found out later lol
But bodhi is great.. But as you say broadcom are not the best wifi adverts are they..
"Listen to them..."
"To whom?"
"Them! They are doing it again!"
"Doing again what?"
"Talking specialist ways, man!!"
"Ah ok, I see..."
f0r3v3r and -Subjective like this.
I just prefer cinnamon over unity, but mint is a very nice OS.
